About VAI

The digital infrastructure for the Fenua.

VAI is a Polynesian tech start-up based in Tahiti, building the digital backbone of the Fenua. Through our platform, Anoe, we give local businesses the software they need to securely manage their daily operations, increase visibility, and connect directly with locals and visitors. The platform is live: Anoe, the one app for the Islands of Tahiti, and Anoe Connect, the booking and management system for local businesses.

Why we exist

The missing layer

French Polynesia is 118 islands across an ocean the size of Western Europe. What the islands offer is scattered: in directories, on Facebook pages, in magazines, on flyers at the hotel desk, in the memory of the person who knows. Nothing connects it. A local business pays a foreign platform to be seen, or stays invisible, and the guests, the data and much of the value leave the islands. The territory has a clear strategy for the challenges of today and tomorrow, but the digital layer it needs is not built yet. VAI builds that layer: one shared infrastructure, made here, that connects the businesses of the Fenua with the people they serve.

Our vision

A Fenua that runs on its own infrastructure

We see a Fenua that runs on its own digital infrastructure. Where a business on Fakarava is found by the world as easily as one in Papeete, on its own terms. Where the value created in the islands stays in the islands, and the data it produces belongs to them. Where young people build careers here, in technology, content and culture, because the industry exists to hold them. That is what VAI works toward.

How we lead

What we stand for

  • Product leadership

We design and build the platform ourselves, end to end, to international standards. Every feature starts with a real person in the islands and a real problem they have.

  • Technology that frees people

Technology takes on the repetitive work, so people have time for what only they can do: welcome a guest, tell a story, run a business they are proud of.

  • Shared prosperity

The value created in the Fenua stays in the Fenua, with the businesses that create it.

  • Digital sovereignty

We work toward a Fenua that controls the digital infrastructure of its own economy. The data created here is owned and governed here, and never sold.

  • Culture at the centre

Technology should carry the culture of the islands further. Part of our profit goes to environmental and cultural preservation projects.

  • Close to the people we build for

The businesses on the platform have a voice in the decisions that shape it.

How we work

Four principles

  • Built here

Designed, built and run in French Polynesia, by people who live with the problem.

  • The business keeps its guests

Every booking is a relationship the business owns, along with its data.

  • Quality before speed

AI helps us build faster and keep the platform secure. It is a tool we use, never the product we sell. We would rather get something right than get it out first.

  • A person behind every story

Every story about the Fenua is researched, written and photographed by real people: the anoe writers and the REDSOYU team.

Solving real problems

The founders

VAI started from two ends of the same problem. Kevin De Silva came from the people and the technology: ten years of digital product development, organisational growth and the conviction that technology can enable human potential. He built the platform. Amandine Launois came from the people and the content: the anoe magazine, Chefs de Tahiti, and seventeen years of REDSOYU, working with the businesses of the Fenua. They found each other, and saw the same thing from both sides.
